  • Warrant For Genocide: The Myth of the Jewish World-conspiracy and the Protocols Of The Elders Of Zion
    • Cohn, Norman

"The myth of Jews as children of the Devil, mysterious, uncanny and possessed of sinister powers, has persisted since the second century, when they were accused of killing Christian children, torturing the consecrated wafer and poisoning wells. In his history of the demonizing of Jewry, British academic Cohn (The Pursuit of the Millennium), describes the modern adaptation of that myth as promulgated through the turn-of-the-century forgery "Protocols of the Elders of Zion." This document was purported to plan Jewish domination of the globe through control of political parties, banks, the press and public opinion, "casting a net of gold and steel around the world."

Although soon to be proven a blatant hoax by the Berne trial in 1935, the "Protocols" sold 120,000 copies in Germany in one year and helped convince 17 million Germans to vote Nazi in 1933. Cohn shows how the fiction of a Jewish conspiracy then combined with volkisch-racist ideology to produce the Holocaust: civilization needed to be rescued from this dark, earthbound race by the "world of good, of light, incarnated in blond, blue-eyed people" marching under the sun-god's symbol, the swastika. This, Cohn argues, with convincing evidence, was the justification used for murdering two thirds of all the Jews in Europe.”(ISBN: 0891304231)

  • IBM and the Holocaust: The Strategic Alliance Between Nazi Germany and America's Most Powerful Corporation
    • Edwin Black

“The stunning story of IBM's strategic alliance with Nazi Germany -- beginning in 1933 in the first weeks that Hitler came to power and continuing well into WW2. IBM and its subsidiaries helped create enabling technologies, step-by-step, from the identification and cataloging programs of the 1930s to the selections of the 1940s. Identifying the Jews so Hitler could target them for efficient asset confiscation, ghettoization, deportation, enslaved labor, and annihilation was a monumental cross-tabulation and organizational challenge.

Aided by IBM's constantly updated Hollerith punch card technology systems, Hitler was able to automate his persecution of the Jews. IBM and its German subsidiary custom-designed complex solutions, one by one, for the Reich's needs. This volume takes you through the carefully crafted corporate collusion with the Third Reich, as well as the structured deniability of oral agreements, undated letters, and the Geneva intermediaries -- all undertaken as the newspapers blazed with accounts of persecution and destruction. Only with IBM's technologic assistance was Hitler able to achieve the staggering numbers of the Holocaust.”

  • The Popes Against the Jews: The Vatican's Role in the Rise of Modern Anti-Semitism.
    •   Kertzer, David I.

"A groundbreaking historical study based on documents previously locked in the Vatican’s secret archives: The Popes Against the Jews graphically shows how the Catholic Church helped make the Holocaust possible. Pope John Paul II, as part of his effort to improve Catholic-Jewish relations, has himself called for a clear-eyed historical investigation into any possible link between the Church and the Holocaust. An important sign of his commitment was the recent decision to allow the distinguished historian David I. Kertzer, a specialist in Italian history, to be one of the first scholars given access to long-sealed Vatican archives. The result is a book filled with shocking revelations. It traces the Vatican’s role in the development of modern anti-Semitism from the nineteenth century up to the outbreak of the Second World War.

Kertzer shows why all the recent attention given to Pope Pius XII’s failure to publicly protest the slaughter of Europe’s Jews in the war misses a far more important point. What made the Holocaust possible was groundwork laid over a period of decades. In this campaign of demonization of the Jews - identifying them as traitors to their countries, enemies of all that was good, relentlessly pursuing world domination - the Vatican itself played a key role, as is shown here for the first time. Despite its focus, this is not an anti-Catholic book. It seeks a balanced judgment and an understanding of the historical forces that led the Church along the path it took.  Inevitably controversial, written with devastating clarity and dispassionate authority, The Popes Against the Jews is a book of the greatest importance.

Kertzer was born in 1948 in New York City. He is Paul Dupee, Jr. University Professor of Social Science and a professor of anthropology and Italian studies at Brown University. He is the author of The Kidnapping of Edgardo Mortara, which was a finalist for the National Book Award. He has twice been awarded, in 1985 and 1990, the Marraro Prize from the Society for Italian Historical Studies for the best work on Italian history. He and his wife, Susan, live in Providence." • The Holocaust. The Jewish Tragedy.
    •   Sir Martin Gilbert

“The murder of six million Jewish men, women and children during the Second World War was a crime of unprecedented and unparallelled bestiality. For more than forty years, evidence of the savage cruelty of the murderers has emerged in every country in Europe, and from each one of the many thousand destroyed communities. From Norway to Greece, from the Channel Islands to the Crimea, from the Pyrenees to the Pripet marshes, Jews were sought out and hunted down, tortured, deported and killed. The aim of the killers was that not a single Jew should survive. But some did survive, and many documents also survived: the often copious records of the murderers themselves, and the diaries and notes of thousands of those who were about to be killed, but who managed to set down as best they could an account of the events which they saw around them.

Piecing together such contemporary documents from every country in Europe, and adding to this evidence the testimony of survivors in four continents, Martin Gilbert has written a powerful study of the six most tormented years of modern European history. The story which unfolds each week, and often day by day, in these moving, sombre and at times terrible pages, is not only the story of suffering and death, but also of the sublime moments of human heroism. Death seems invincible in these pages, yet the nobility of the human spirit, at moments of usually hopeless resistance, shines through again and again. Martin Gilbert writes, not of the `six-million`, not of statistics, but of people; of individuals whose names, whose words, whose families, whose torments and whose fate are told so graphically, and with such deep sympathy, as to make this book a masterpiece of historical writing.”

  • Atlas Of The Holocaust
    • Sir Martin Gilbert
“Traces each phase of the Holocaust, starting with the anti-Semitic violence of pre-war Germany, and leading to the German conquest of countries in which the Jews had lived for centuries. The hundreds of maps trace the deportation of Jews from the Nazi-dominated countries to the death camps, as well as the refusal of several countries to agree to deportation, and then show the slow but inexorable advance of the Allies, plotted month by month, toward Berlin, with the evacuations and death marches, as well as the liquidation of the remaining ghettos and slave labor camps.”(ISBN: 0718121600)
