Russia’s
Pretender meets with Russian Deputy Prime Minister
On 29 January 2008, the Head of the Russian Imperial House,
H.I.H. Grand Duchess Maria Vladimirovna, met in her apartment in Madrid with
the Vice-Premier of the Russian Government and the Head of Apparatus of the
Russian Government, S. E. Naryshkin, and with the head of the Russian Federal
Agency for Tourism, V. I. Strzhalkovskii, who were in the Spanish capital to
conclude trade negotiations between Russia and Spain and to participate in the
International Tourist Trade Fair (FITUR).
The Director of Her Imperial
Highness’s Chancellery, A. N. Zakatov, and the Master of Heraldry of the
Chancellery, S. V. Dumin, also]articipated in the meeting. The Grand Duchess
Maria Vladimirovna shared her impressions from her recent trips to Russia and
Australia, expressed her thoughts on the strengthening of Russia’s
international position, and she exchanged opinions with her guests about the
development of economic and cultural ties with Spain. Her Imperial Highness
expressed her support for the government of Russia’s efforts to strengthen
domestic stability and to revive governmental and national traditions.
The
high-ranking visitors brought to the grand duchess an icon of her Heavenly
protector, the Holy Equal-to-the-Apostles St. Mary Magdalene, and Her Imperial
Highness gave her guests copies of the book on the history of the dynasty,
entitled By the Grace of God. The next day, on 30 January, by the personal
invitation of S. E. Naryshkin and V. I. Strzhalkovskii, the Head of the Russian
Imperial House visited the Russian stand at the International Tourist Trade
Fair.
